The Aboriginal Tent Embassy was established on the lawns of Parliament House in Canberra in 1972 as a protest against  the treatment of Aboriginal people in Australia. The Aboriginal Tent Embassy became a symbol of injustice to Aboriginal people. It continues to be a site of Aboriginal protest.
